Working Trailer Fire - Frankford Station 76

On July 1, 2003 at 11:59 Hrs. the Frankford Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. and the Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company, Inc. along with the Sussex County EMS Medic 103, were dispatched to a reported working trailer fire on Sussex 392 (Frankford School Road) just past the Elementary School. Arriving on scene first at 12:08 Hrs. Engine 76-1 with (76-16) Assistant Chief Robbie Murray. Chief Murray advised that they were on scene with heavy fire showing from sides one and two. Upon arrival, one 1 ?? attack line was placed in service, attacking the fire at the front of the structure. Next, Engine/Rescue 76-3 arrived with (76-17) Assistant Chief Tommy Bacon. Their crew was ordered to connect to a 5? supply line laid by Engine 76-1, and have their crew report to Engine 1 to pull a second 1 ?? attack line to the rear of the structure. Ambulance B-76 arrived and immediately set up a rehab zone in case of any injuries. Chief Murray called back to the Sussex County EOC, and advised them to re-alert for a second alarm for a working trailer fire. At that time the Roxana Volunteer Fire Company was sent to the scene for a Rapid Intervention Team Response. Also, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company were alerted for a one engine each stand by assignment at Frankford?s Fire Station. Progress was made with the two 1 ?? lines. The crew from the rear of the structure was able to make an interior attack. At that time it was determined that there was fire beneath the floor of the trailer. The crew evacuated and was assisted by another crew in removing some of the trailers skirting to extinguish the fire beneath the trailer. At that time a Positive Pressure Fan was placed in service at the rear of the building to help ventilate the building. Engine 84-1 was called to the scene for additional manpower. At 12:35 Hrs. Chief Murray advised that the fire scene was under control, holding units for overhaul. After approximately forty-five minutes of overhaul all units returned to the fire station, to place all units back in service.
