EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

FIREFIGHTER/EMT

 

The Millville Fire Company is currently hiring Full-Time Career EMT/Firefighter. This position includes responding to all Fire & EMS-related emergencies while on duty, within and around the Millville Fire District. Employees will be responsible for riding both Fire & EMS apparatus, depending on the type of call, and after proper check-outs. Employees will also be responsible for operating the Fire Apparatus (after proper check-outs) as needed. Daily checks and some maintenance are expected of employees, as are light station duties and the review of DEMRS charts. Successful candidates will work a rotating 24-on, 48-off schedule, with a Kelly Day (Either Monday or Thursday). 

 

Minimum Qualifications for consideration:

  • 18 years of age at the time of application, with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Currently holds: NREMT & State of Delaware EMT Licensure, CPR/AED, Delaware EVO, and a valid Driver’s License.
  • Completion of: Basic Firefighting Skills, Structural Firefighting Skills, Vehicle Rescue, & Hazardous Materials Response Skills. The equivalent of the above is accepted at the discretion of the Delaware State Fire School and Millville Volunteer Fire Company. (i.e., NFPAPro Board Firefighter I, II, etc.)
  • Must be able to safely and effectively lift 150 lbs. with assistance.
  • Successful interview session with a panel
  • Successful passing of an on-site Candidate Physical Agility Testing course.
  • Successful passing of a practical skills evaluation.
  • Successful NFPA Physical with Drug Test, which is provided when a conditional job offer is received.
  • The selected candidate will need to pass a background check.

 

Preferred classes/certifications include: 

Preferred classes must be completed within 2 years of employment.

  • Driver/Operator

 

Benefits and Wage:

  • Hourly wage of $20.76 an hour (Approx. $56,000 yearly), with possible yearly increase after the first year, based on performance.
  • Health and Dental (After 30 days). Additional family members will be at the employee’s expense.
  • AFLAC supplemental insurance and Vision are offered at the employee’s expense.
  • Uniforms and boot allowance. Exercise apparel for physical fitness time.
  • Both the company and the employee pay into the State of Delaware 20-year County Municipal Police Fire Pension Plan.
  • 24 hours of training pay per year for fire classes. (After the probationary period)
  • The company pays all EMS/Con-Ed classes for the employee’s 2-year certification period. (After the probationary period)
  • Start PTO accrual 20 hours per month after the 1st month of employment, then follow the handbook.
