Water Supply Drill
Saturday September 20, 2025
08:00 hours – 13:00 hours
Station 84, Station 2
34237 Omar Road
As you may be aware, we recently replaced our Tractor Drawn Tanker with a new Tanker 84 and Engine Tanker 84-4. We have been working with the Maryland State Firefighters Association, Water Supply and Resource Division, since April to train and perfect our skills with this new apparatus. This drill is the culmination of that training. We are excited to see how well we can do on a larger scale. Our goal is to maintain a flow rate of no less than 1000gpm for 2 hours, hopefully more. Our primary goal is to sustain a constant flow rate and not run out of water once the drill is started.
The training will be run as if it were an actual incident, and we will try to run it as realistically as possible.
We hope that your fire company will attend and ask that you coordinate with Asst. Chief Hess from the MVFC to determine what you can bring to this exercise to make it a success.
You are welcome to bring additional apparatus and personnel if you wish, we will not turn anyone away. Please give us a rough head count no later than Monday, September 15, so we can plan for food. Light breakfast will be served during the Pre-Drill Briefing, and Lunch will be provided after the drill, during the Hot Wash.
The MSFA Water Supply and Resource Division provides state-of-the-art Water Supply Training of all types, and they have been a huge help in training us during this transition. They will have instructors at all sites to assist with any questions, concerns, issues.
Please respond to either of the below and confirm your attendance at your earliest convenience, we hope that your company will take advantage of this excellent training opportunity. Feel free to contact either of the below if you have any questions or concerns about the training. We look forward to seeing you there!
Steve Hess, Asst. Chief, Millville VFC. 302-213-9403 [email protected]
Steve Barry, Lead Instructor, MSFA 443-509-0478 [email protected]
Note: Any company attending that wishes to bring drivers in training, please contact A/Chief Hess or Instructor Barry, and let us know what needs you may have, and we will do our best to accommodate those needs when we do the apparatus assignments for the day.
Key Fire Hose will be supplying the hose for this event, so there will not be a need for any company to use their own LDH during this training.
