On Monday July 7th, 2003 at approx 1700hrs, the Millville Vol. Fire Co., Sussex County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with roll over on DE 17 (Roxana Rd) and Sx 365 (Powell Farm Road). 8417 (Temple) responding to the scene arrived to find one vehicle over turned in the center of the roadway with two occupants located on the shoulder of the road. Command was established and DE 17 was immediately shut down. A84 arrived and Career EMT's Brown and Stillman started to treat the two occupants who had crawled from the vehicle. E84-1 under the direction of Chief Scott was ordered to stage prior to the incident, pull a 200' attack line, secure the car and have any EMS personnel assist in patient care. M105-1 (split medic) arrived from the south and triaged the driver of the second car before reporting to the main scene. A BLS unit from Sta. 90 Roxana was requested due to Millville already handling another EMS call in their first due. Rescue 84 arrived shortly thereafter and Rescue Lt. Kauffman assigned a crew to fluid control on the second vehicle and debris removal. Two patients were transported by ground to a local hospital for evaluation. DSP Trooper 2 was placed in service. Units remained on scene providing clean-up and traffic control until the vehicles could be removed from the scene.
