Motor Vehicle Accident w/ejection - Clubhouse Rd. n/o Old Mill Rd.

On September 8th at 2300hrs the Millville Vol. Fire Co., Sussex County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation Division were dispatched to a serious MVA on Clubhouse Rd. (Sx 351) n/o Old Mill Rd. (Sx 349). Deputy84/Huovinen responding to the scene was advised by EOC that there was 1 patient ejected with CPR in progress and 1 still trapped in the vehicle. Deputy84 and C84 arrived on scene at 2304 and confirmed the reports. E841 arrived at 2305 and split its crew of 8 up to vehicle stabilization, hand line for fire protection, Hurst Operations and assisting EMS with patient care. The occupant that was still in the vehicle located behind the steering wheel, advised rescuers that he was able to climb from the vehicle and he was not injured. Before firefighters could assess his entrapment, the occupant self-extricated himself and treatment was started by firefighters. The occupant that had been ejected, sustained injuries not compatible to life and was pronounced on scene by Sussex County Paramedics. The other victim was indeed injured and was treated and transported to an area medical facility for further treatment. Fire units remained on scene providing traffic control, lighting, assistance to DSP and ME as well as scene and biohazard cleanup.
