Motor Vehicle Accident - West Ave. and Beaver Dam Rd.

On Thursday June 10th the MVFC, Sussex County Paramedics and Delaware State Police Aviation Division were dispatched to a reported MVC involving a motorcycle. EMS and Fire units arrived simultaneously and found the patient, an elderly male, sitting on the tailgate of a small pick up truck. The patient had been riding his moped when for an unknown reason he left the roadway and proceeded to crash into a large drainage ditch. The pt was ejected onto the rip-rap rocks that made up the sides of the ditch. The pt was assisted to the roadway by witnesses to wait for Fire/EMS crews. The pt was packaged and transferred to Trooper 2 for transport to a local medical facility. The pt was listed as a serious due to the mechanism of injury. Units cleared and West Ave. was re-opened with the scene being turned over to DSP for investigation.
