Motor Vehicle Accident - Vines Creek Rd. at St. George's Church

On Monday October 4th, the MVFC was dispatched to an MVC on Vines Creek Rd. at the St. George's Church. C84 arrived first to find that a mini-van had struck a pole at a moderate to high rate of speed causing severe pole damage. Conectiv was already on scene controlling utilities and it was safe to approach the patient and care was initiated. The call was dispatched BLS and after examining the MOI and patient's injuries, BLS requested an ALS unit and SCEMS Medic 105 and Division Manager Kinsley responded. Eng/Tanker 84-4 with 3rd Asst. Chief Johnson on board arrived shortly there after and established command. Command assigned firefighters to secure a perimeter around the scene, pull a hand line for protection as well as assisting EMS. When Rescue 84 with Chief Hammond arrived, that crew was assigned the task of fluid containment and road clean up. One patient was transported ALS to an area medical facility for evaluation and Command turned the scene over to DSP for the investigation and Conectiv/DelDot for the Pole Replacement. Units Responding; C84, Eng/Tanker 84-4, RESCUE 84, DSP, DSFP, CONECTIV, and DELDOT.
