Two-Vehicle Accident With Entrapment - 36291 Double Bridges Road
November 27, 2007
On Tuesday November 27 at 9:29 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at 36291 Double Bridges Road. The ambulance crews and firefighters arrived to a two-vehicle accident involving a Nissan Altima and a six-wheeled plumbing supply box truck. Since the driver of the plumbing supply truck was uninjured and refused treatment, all personnel focused their attention on the driver of the Nissan Altima, who was trapped in the vehicle. Millville Volunteer Fire Company personnel used rescue equipment to remove the driver side door, car roof, and perform a driver side dash push to free the occupant. The driver of the Nissan Altima was then transported by the Millville Volunteer Fire Company ambulance to a landing zone at Camp Barnes and Double Bridges Road where he was transferred to the Delaware State Police helicopter Trooper 2. Trooper 2 flew the driver, who was in serious condition, to Christiana Medical Center in Christiana. Fire Chief Doug Scott turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation.
