April 24, 2008

On Thursday April 24 at 2:27a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle fire in the 31000 block of Pine Street in the Banks Acres development. The firefighters and ambulance crew arrived to a 2003 Mazda Tribute on fire. Second Assistant Chief Eric Huovinen directed the crew attack to extinguish the motor vehicle fire, and requested assistance from the Delaware State Police for a domestic disturbance in progress. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office also responded to the scene. Investigators determined the fire was intentionally set. A 48-year-old male was subsequently charged with second-degree arson and arrested for setting fire to the vehicle, which was owned by someone with whom he had argued. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
