Gas Leak - 10 Block of Jordyn Ct

March 08, 2009

At 4:23 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a gas leak in the 10 Block of Jordyn Ct. off of Woodland Avenue. Equipment began responding within two minutes of the dispatch. The responders arrived to a leaking 500-pound propane gas tank. Warm temperatures on Sunday resulted in an expansion of the propane gas in the tank, causing the relief valve to vent. Chief Shawn Evans directed a stream of water on the tank until it was cool enough for the vent to seat and alleviate the leak. The situation was declared under control at 5:43 p.m. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
