On Sunday, May 9 at 2:17 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to an outside fire at Sussex and Kent Roads in Indian River Acres. With high winds and dry conditions existing, the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company was also dispatched for an assist. The firefighters arrived to a small woods fire located on both the east and west sides of Sussex Road that was spreading towards marshland. Firefighting crews contained and extinguished the spreading fire, preventing it from getting to the marshland. Chief Richie Walls declared the situation under control at 2:46 p.m. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
