On Saturday, September 11 at 2:03 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics and Delaware State Police medical helicopter Trooper 2 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at Muddy Neck Road and Elder Lane. The emergency personnel arrived to an injured bicyclist that had been involved in a head-on collision with another bicyclist. Millville’s ambulance personnel provided initial care and transported the injured person to the landing zone that was established at Melson’s Funeral home located near the scene on Muddy Neck Road. The patient was transferred to Delaware State Police Helicopter Trooper 2 and flown to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland for additional evaluation and treatment. Assistant Chief Shawn Evans declared the situation under control at 2:34 a.m. and turned the scene over to the Delaware State Police. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
