July 01, 2014
On Tuesday, July 1st, the members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, along with citizens in the surrounding communities who lined the streets, joined together to welcome home Specialist Charlie Mood on his return from being deployed the past 11 months in Afghanistan. He served in the Army's CENTCOM Material Recovery Element at Forward Operating Base Shank and later at Bagram Air Base. CENTCOM's duties included recovering assets and tearing down bases. Charlie left New Castle County at 11 a.m. this morning with his parents and girlfriend. At the Indian River Inlet, Charlie was met by a contingent of firefighters and EMS personnel who helped welcome him home with a motorcade of emergency vehicles, passing numerous American flags on his way to the Millville Volunteer Fire Company where others were awaiting to give Charlie a big, welcome home hug! All of the members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company are glad to have Charlie back home safe and sound once again. This was Charlie's second deployment to the Middle East after a prior deployment to Iraq in 2009 to 2010.
