Cold Weather Creates a Busy Morning

Cold weather created a busy morning for the Millville Volunteer Fire Company on January 11, 2015. In a span of 80 minutes, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company responded to an automatic alarm at the Salted Rim in Ocean View, a reported gas leak in Ocean Way Estates, and a service call back at the Salted Rim Restaurant. The alarm for the Salted Rim came in at 09:28. A sprinkler head broke at the Salted Rim and flooded the restaurant car. Units in service for 45 minutes were: 84-8,C84, 84-1, 84-6,T84, & 84-4. The reported gas leak came in at 09:57 with units C84, 84-1, 84-8,84-6 & 84-4 responding. The situation was declared under control at 10:13 with the gas leak coming from a leaking gasoline storage container in a shed. At 10:57 the Millville Fire Company was again dispatched to the Salted Rim Restaurant for a service call to assist with cleanup in the flooded restaurant car. The crew on Engine 84-4 responded to the service call at 10:17. It was determined that a professional cleaning company would have to do the salvage clean-up on the flooded car. At 10:27 Engine 84-4 returned to the station.
