On Friday, 12 January 2018, at 1638 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to respond to the 37000 block of Pinewood Road in the Denton Woods subdivision for a structure fire.  Due to the nature of this alarm, additional stations were dispatched by Sussex County EOC. They were, Bethany Beach, Frankford, Roxana, and Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Company’s.  In addition, Sussex County Paramedics, Ben Lewis and Cassandra Petralia responded to care for the injured.  Fire Marshal’s Office was notified and responded to the scene to investigate the origin of this blaze. 

Thanks are due to MVFC Fire-Police Earl Green who was the first to arrive at the smoke-filled dwelling.  Fire-Police Earl Green leaped into action by running towards the fire and convinced the home’s sole occupant to vacate immediately before being overcome by flames and smoke as it was steadily increasing.  

This fire event was deemed under control within 30 minutes.  Chief RC Evans manned the Command Vehicle.  Thankfully there were no injuries.  The owners black Labrador retriever was very friendly towards me until the first window shattered and hunkered down in her dog house until the excitement ended.
