On Tuesday, 30 January 2018, at 1736 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted by Sussex County EOC to respond to the intersection of Atlantic and Central Avenues for a vehicular collision.
MVFC responded with Rescue 84, Ambulance 84, and Command Unit 84. Due to the time of day and the vehicle’s post-crash rest position in the intersection, numerous Fire-Police from MVFC and BBVFC were necessitated to redirect traffic from 4 distinct directions.
Bethany Beach VFC ambulance was requested to care for those injured in one of the vehicles involved. The injured parties were transported to a local medical facility for treatment.
Ocean View Police dedicated 3 officers to assist with traffic control and investigation. Officer Annmarie Dalton was tasked with determining the origin of the collision. Officer First Class Nicholas Harrington assisted Officer Dalton in the investigation so the roadway could reopen as quickly as possible.
OVPD Sgt. Bradshaw oversaw the accident investigation while Deputy Chief Paul Sterling oversaw the faction affecting the fire department.
