Additional photos added on November 10th, 2021, courtesy of Chief Andrew “Andy” Johnson of the Roxana VFC. Chief Johnson was able to get their new Pierce Quint 90-3 in an excellent position on the north side of the original fire building. Chief Johnson’s tactics were of great value in protecting the property to the north of the fire and supporting the ongoing fire attack.
Original Post: On November 6th, 2021 at 2328 hours the MVFC, along with the 1st alarm mutual aid box assignment was alerted assisted the Bethany Beach VFC with a house fire in the 39000 block of Seaside Drive in Bethany Village. Upon arrival units found heavy fire showing from the front side of a large four story residential dwelling. The home was located on the oceanfront with winds estimated at 15-20 mph from the northeast. Units initiated a defensive fire attack to knock down the bulk of the fire on the exterior of the home. Units then transitioned to an interior attack to complete extinguishment of the fire. The fire was brought under control in just over one hour. Units continued to operate for an additional three hours completing overhaul operations. Fire Chief Shane Truitt of the BBVFC had command of the incident. Fire Chief Guy Rickards of the MVFC was the operations officer. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident. Thanks to the Georgetown VFC for providing coverage for the Millville fire district during the fire.
