It is with great sympathy that the Millville Volunteer Fire Company announces the passing of Life Member Robert “Bob” Powell.  Bob served the Millville VFC and the citizens of the Millville fire district and surrounding communities with great passion and dedication.  Bob could always be counted on as a voice of calm and reason and provided valuable leadership to the company.  Bob served on numerous committees and held the offices of Fire Lieutenant, Director, Assistant Treasurer, Assistant Recording Secretary and Public Information Officer.  Bob was the recipient of the Firefighter of the Year Award in 2008, Member of the Year Award in 2007, and received the Fire Chief’s Award in 2011.  Bob also was a member of the Citizens Hose Company in Smyrna, Delaware for many years before moving to Sussex County.  Celebration of Life Services will be held March 19, 2022, at Station 2 on Omar Road visitation noon - 2:00 pm, service at 2:00.  Final Alarm honor to be conducted at Station 1 35554 Atlantic Avenue.
