On Monday October 31^st, 2022 at 1230 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the Bethany Beach VFC were dispatched to the 31000 block of Suzon Place in the Bowerset development for a report cut gas line.  Units arrived to find a severed gas line from a subject doing landscape maintenance near one of the vertical propane storage tanks suppling the residence.  Engine 84-2 established a water supply for a nearby hydrant and deployed a 250’ 1 ¾” hoseline for vapor dispersement.  Crew were able to secure the gas leak by closing the valve on the tank.  Additional crews checked the home for residual gas with none found.  Several residences in the area were evacuated for a short period of time as a precaution.  The gas supplier was contacted for repairs to the gas line.  Units on the scene were E84-2, E84-6, R84 and Q70-4 along with several EMS units and fire police.  Units operated for just under one hour before returning to service.
