On March 2^nd, 2023 at 0728 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with the mutual aid box alarm assignment was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 30000 block of Maplewood Road in the Denton Woods development off of Railway Road in Millville.  Units arrived to find a single story residence with a smoke showing from the roof area.  The fire was contained to the alpha/delta corner of the roof in short order, all searches were negative.  Units operated for approximately one hour checking for fire extension into the roof and attic area.  The fire apparently started from a lightning strike that occurred at some point this morning when several thunderstorms went through the area.  Millville units responding were Engine 84-2, Engine 84-4, Rescue 84 and Command 84.  Mutual aid was provided by Bethany Beach, Roxana, Frankford and Dagsboro fire companies.  Frankford and Dagsboro VFC units were diverted to provide regional coverage until units became available.  There were no injuries reported.  The Delaware State Fire Marshal was requested to the scene.  Photos by Andy Johnson.
