On Saturday April 29^th, 2023, in support of the Bethany Beach Fenwick Island Chamber of Commerce, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company provided traffic control and emergency medical coverage for the annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour.  The Ocean to Bay Bike Tour is an event for cycling enthusiast to ride various routes throughout southeast Sussex County.  Hundreds of cyclist traversed our locals roadways leaving from and returning to Bethany Beach.  MVFC Fire Police Officers as well as the Delaware State Police and the Delaware Department of Transportation covered many high traffic intersections to assist the cyclists is completing the courses safely.  EMS units were stationed throughout the area to provide medical assistance as necessary.  One cyclist was transported after a fall on Holts Landing Road for non-life threatening injuries to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes, Delaware.  Millville units provided assistance for the event for approximately six hours.  MVFC Fire Police Officers that provided coverage were Captain Greg Tietmeyer, Lieutenants Garland Saville, Bill Bowden Sr., Robert Steffens and Michele Steffens.
