On Friday evening November 3rd, 2023 at 2149 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company along with Sussex County EMS were dispatched to the 34000 block of Omar Road for a reported motor vehicle collision involving a golf cart. Additional information was received reporting a subject reported trapped underneath a vehicle bringing the mutual aid street alarm assignment (Roxana VFC) to the scene. In addition, information was received that multiple patients were involved prompting the Sussex EOC to dispatch additional EMS units from Bethany Beach VFC, Dagsboro VFD and Roxana VFC including additional units from Sussex County EMS. Both Sussex County EMS supervisors were dispatched to the scene for a blood response. Helicopters from Delaware State Police Aviation and Christiana Care Life Net 2 were dispatched to a landing zone at Fire Station 2 (Omar Road) for patient transportation.
Units arrived to find two priority one patients, confirming one patient trapped underneath a passenger vehicle. Units worked together to extricate the patient from underneath the vehicle taking approximately 10 minutes. Both patients were transported to Fire Station 2 and transported by helicopter to Christiana ER. Roxana fire units were diverted to Fire Station 2 to handle the landing zone operations. Units operated for approximately one hour. Lieutenant Ty Webb had command of the incident. Deputy Chief Derek Kuebeck (90) handled the landing zone operations. The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident.
Units making the response were Engine 84-4, Rescue 84, Command 84-8, Traffic Control 84-13, Tower 90, Quint 90-3, Ambulance B-70, Ambulance B-90, Ambulance B-73, Medic 103, Medic 105, EMS 100, EMS 200, EMS 18, Delaware Trooper 2 and Life Net 2.
