Priority 1 Water Rescue with a good ending!

May 28, 2024

On Tuesday morning, 27 May 2024, at approximately 0900 hours, Bethany Beach, Millville, and Indian River Volunteer Fire Companies were alerted for a Water Rescue at the Indian River Inlet. Supplementary response units were the United States Coast Guard and Delaware State Police Medevac Helicopter.

Incoming emergency watercraft were notified that a jet ski was in the inlet, sans any occupants. A search was made for anyone in the water, but subsequent information was learned the jet ski had broken free from its mooring and drifted into the inlet waterway. The watercraft was safely taken to shore by members of the BBVFC.

BBVFC Deputy Chief Tom Moore was in command of this water rescue event and stated no person(s) were injured in this operation.
