On Monday September 9th, 2024 at 1656 hours the Millville Volunteer Fire Company Emergency Medical Services and the Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to the 32000 block of Roxana Road for a traumatic injury. EMS providers were able to determine the patient was in serious condition and required medevac services for a transport of the patient to a trauma specialty center. Due to our local helicopter resources being already committed on missions and unavailable, Maryland State Police Aviation was requested to fill the void. Maryland Trooper 6 from Centerville, Maryland was dispatched by Syscom in Baltimore to handle the mission. The patient was transported from the scene to Station 84 on Atlantic Avenue where a landing zone was secured by personnel from Engine 84-2 under the command of Fire Chief Walter Johnson. The patient was flown to Shock Trauma University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. This is another example of the cooperation and coordination of resources, not only inside the state, but region-wide. Thank you Maryland State Police Aviation for your help yesterday handling another critical mission in the Millville Fire District.
