Wed 4/23 We conducted a training drill for Rural Water Supply operations. This drill was conducted with
Roxana Volunteer Fire Company,
Selbyville Volunteer Fire Company, and Millville Vol Fire Company. This was phase II of our training. The intention of this training is to ready our stations for situations were a larger fires in rural areas with no hydrants requiring a lot of water. This is accomplished using Tanker Trucks, Tanker Engines shuttling water from a nearby source - in this case a pond - and bringing it to drop tank(s) where the engine crews will draw water. The tankers and fill crews need to work continuously filling tankers then dumping water into the tanks to maintain the water supply. We concentrated on coordination of that operation and for the purpose of the drill we were able to supply 500 gallons of water per min continuously. Phase III of this training is this weekend.
