Tonight, MVFC got called to do something out of the norm. A call from a concerned citizen regarding a cat stuck inside the engine compartment of their car: Rescue-84 rolled with a crew of six. Junior Firefighter Leland Oakley was on that crew. Discussing our plan of action en route, we determined that Leland would get put to the test -- his first Officer In Charge assignment. He rose to the challenge! Not only did he command the scene, he was instrumental in removing the cat from the vehicle. Proper assessment, tactics, and confident execution - Well done Leland we're proud of you! Future Officer in the making! It's Juniors like Leland that will be the future of firefighting, if your at least 14yrs old we are always looking for good junior members!
