After decades of courageous service, today we gathered to celebrate the remarkable career of a dedicated firefighter and EMT, Wally Evans who has devoted much of his life to the safety and well-being of our community. From battling fires to providing life-saving care in critical moments, his unwavering commitment and bravery have made a profound impact on countless lives.
Today, we honor not just the remarkable achievements but also the countless stories of heroism, teamwork, and compassion that define his career. This next chapter is well-deserved, and while he may be retiring from duty at MVFC, his legacy of service will forever resonate in our hearts.
Mr. Evans was accompanied by many family members, friends, and his extended firefighter associates from neighboring volunteer fire companies. Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware State Fire School representatives, and Government officials were all here to enjoy this celebration. Guests included State Representative Ron Gray, who presented two proclamations, one from his office and one from State Senator Gerald Hocker, both well aware of Wally's accomplishments. Town Manager Eileen Scerra attended representing the Town of Millville and Police Chief Kenneth McLaughlin presented a proclamation from the Town of Ocean View. Many members of MVFC spoke praise including Chief Doug Scott, EMS Chief Jack Wilson, EMS Captain Tyler Hickman, as well as Vice President and Deputy Chief Guy Rickards.
Wally is not one to sit idle, he will continue as President of the
Lewes Fire Department and speaks of many projects at his home.
