Building Fire - Cedar Neck Rd. and Hickman Rd. "Magnolia's"

On Friday August 20th the MVFC, Bethany Beach VFC and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a reported building fire at the Magnolia's Restaurant on Cedar Neck Rd. in Ocean View. E84-2 with 2nd Asst. Chief Scott responded within 2 minutes and was updated that an off duty DSP officer had seen fire on the outside of the building and workers were trying to extinguish the fire. 8418 3rd Asst. Chief Johnson responded from his residence and was the first to arrive, reporting that the fire was out but overhaul would be needed. Crews removed portions of the siding as well as wetting down a pile of construction debris. No extension was found and the scene was turned over to the DSFM's office.
The Magnolia's Restaurant is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. This newer building will help accommodate the large crowds whom seek out the best food at the beach. Luckily the damage sustained to the building was not major and should not delay their opening. Good Luck from the MVFC.
