MVA with entrapment - Omar Rd. W/O Vines Creek Rd.

On Monday night, September 27th the MVFC and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to an MVA with entrapment on Omar Rd w/o Vines Creek Rd. Initial reports from the Sussex EOC were that the occupant's arm was trapped under the vehicle. C84 arrived on scene first and after making contact with the lone patient, found that she was in fact trapped however her arm was not under the vehicle. Eng/Tanker 84-4 under the direction of 1st Asst. Chief Droney arrived moments later, stabilized the vehicle and started the extrication process. Rescue84 with 2nd Asst. Chief Scott arrived shortly thereafter and Command placed Asst. Chief Scott as the extrication officer. The windshield and rear window was removed and a pair of Holmatro combination tools made easy work of the passenger side A and B posts. A relief cut was made on the driver?s side roof and the roof was then bent down giving EMS crews ample space to care for the injured driver. The driver was removed and transported with ALS to an area medical facility for evaluation. Asst. Chief Droney placed the situation under control and units cleared when they were ready. The Scene was turned over to DSP for the investigation.
