Working House Fire - Dogwood Estates

On May 30th at 1913 hrs; Millville, Dagsboro, and Sussex County EMS were alerted for a house fire on Dogwood Estates Drive in Dogwood Estates. Assistant Chief Stevens for Dagsboro VFC arrived within minutes to find a working fire in an attached garage. Fire attack was accomplished by the crew from Engine 73-1 led by Fire Chief Todd McCabe. Engine 84-2 arrived next and placed an additional attack line in service through the front door of the residence to ensure containment to the garage and check for extension. Engine 73-2 arrived next and there crew was split to conduct a primary search on both floors of the residence. The search was negative, however this crew as able to located a family pet which survived the fire without injury. Truck 84 arrived next and was assigned ventilation of the area above the garage and utility control. Rescue 73 was assigned as the RIT team on side A. The fire was placed under control at 2002 hours. The Delaware State Fire Marshals office (FM11) is investigating the fire.
