Command Unit Officially in Service - IMPORTANT OPERATIONAL CHANGE

July 01, 2005

On July 1, 2005 Command 84 (84-8) was officially placed in service. One important operational change was to place all portable radios on TALK 1 for firefighting operations. All units arriving on the scene and requesting or receiving assignments will continue to be given them on FIRE 2 or another designated channel. Pump operators should also continue to use FIRE 2. This change will allow interior and other firefighting operations to be on a channel not interupted by other units responding or arriving at the scene. Command and/or Operations will monitor TALK 1 at all times.
