On Friday May 19 at 5:48 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a single vehicle accident with one occupant on Whites Neck Road and Old Mill Road, north of Route 26. The ambulance crew and firefighters arrived to find a Ford Mustang off the road on its side in a field. The driver had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash and was unconscious. Emergency personnel from the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedic Unit provided initial treatment to the victim. The driver was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury by the Delaware State Police helicopter. Assistant Chief Guy Rickards turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. An update on the driver Sunday evening indicated he was still in Peninsula Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
