Residential Rescue - Indian River Acres

November 24, 2006

On Thanksgiving Day as most Volunteers were sitting down to enjoy the meal of the day, the MVFC was alerted to assist on an EMS Call in the Indian River Acres Development. Due to the Nor' Easter that the area had just rode out, tides were extremely high and several roads were flooded. The MVFC responded with the Command, Rescue, Brush truck and Marine unit. Upon assessing the flooding 1st Asst. Chief Scott decided that the Rescue with its high ground clearance would be able to make it into the scene and remove the patient to the awaiting ambulance on higher ground. The water was at times close to knee deep in the areas around the canals.
