Millville VFC Implements Duty Crew Program - 84HQ
May 26, 2007
As the busy summer season approaches, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company instituted a new volunteer duty crew program where the members spend a 6 hour tour of duty at the fire station on Saturdays. The purpose is to shorten the initial response times for the first piece of fire apparatus to an emergency scene. This day and time was identified as an especially difficult time to get a volunteer fire crew to the station due to the high volume of traffic on Route 26. These duty crews report to station 1 at 09:00 hours and perform apparatus checks, a small company drill, and apparatus maintenance. A meal is provided by a local establishment for the crew. The Company already provides two career crews for EMS coverage.
