June 29, 2008
On Sunday June 29 at 10:35 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 36000 block of Double Bridges Road. Equipment began responding to the alarm within one minute of the dispatch. The ambulance crew and firefighters arrived to a single-vehicle accident. As the driver of a Ford pickup was going west on Double Bridges Road, he lost control of the vehicle and impacted a tree on the south side of the road. The driver had pulled the passenger out of the vehicle by the time emergency crews arrived. The driver and passenger were placed in the Millville Volunteer Fire Company ambulance for initial treatment and then transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. Chief Eddie Hammond turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation.
