Motor Vehicle Accident - Cedar Neck and Sandy Cove Roads
July 20, 2008
On Sunday July 20 at 4:04 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at Cedar Neck and Sandy Cove Roads. The ambulance crew and firefighters arrived to a single-vehicle accident. As the driver of a Pontiac Firebird convertible was going north on Cedar Neck Road, he lost control of the vehicle and went off the left side of the road breaking off a utility pole, crashing through a fence, shearing off a pine tree at its base, and glancing off a brick column at the entrance to a driveway before finally coming to rest in the front yard of a home owner. The two occupants of the vehicle were out of the car and fleeing the scene of the accident when emergency personnel arrived. One of the occupants was placed in the Millville Volunteer Fire Company ambulance for initial treatment. He was transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for additional treatment. The Delaware State Police did not find the other occupant until later in the morning. Truck Lieutenant Doug Scott turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation.
