Motor Vehicle Accident - 32000 Block Vines Creek Road

January 21, 2009

On Wednesday January 21 at 1:01 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics, and Delaware State Police helicopter Trooper 2 were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the 32000 Block of Vines Creek Road. The ambulance crew and firefighters arrived to a single vehicle accident involving a dump truck. As the operator of the dump truck was going east on Vines Creek Road, he stated something went wrong with the steering resulting in a loss of control. The dump truck rolled onto its side sliding down the road until it came to rest, still on its side, in a field on the eastbound side of Vines Creek Road. Emergency personnel removed the windshield allowing the driver to exit the vehicle, who was then placed in the Millville Volunteer Fire Company ambulance for initial treatment. He was transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for additional treatment of his injuries. Vines Creek Road remained closed until the dump truck was removed from the field and its load of sand dumped on the roadway was cleaned up. Fire Chief Shawn Evans turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
