Motor Vehicle Acident With Utility Pole - 36000 Block Double Bridges Road

On Thursday May 7 at 8:55 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 36000 block of Double Bridges Road with a vehicle reported overturned and an electric pole involved. The responders arrived to a vehicle on its roof with an electric pole completely cut off. The driver had already exited the vehicle unaided. After being examined by the by the ALS and BLS personnel on the scene, the driver refused treatment. Double Bridges Road was shut down between Old Church Cemetery Road and Bayard Road initially by the Fire Police, and then by Department of Transportation arrow boards. Delaware Electric Cooperative was notified and responded. The amount of time to replace the pole was estimated to be between 4 to 6 hours. The crew of Rescue 84 checked the vehicle and found no hazards. Deputy Chief Doug Scott turned the scene over to the electric company.
