July 15, 2009

At 8:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a fire nature unknown in the 33000 Block of Substation Road. Within 2 minutes of the dispatch, the alarm was upgraded to a structure fire with the Roxana and Bethany Beach Fire Companies alerted to respond. The alarm was then downgraded when it was discovered the incident was an outside fire in the 35000 Block of Pine Bark Lane and did not involve any structures, which resulted in the Roxana and Bethany Beach Fire Companies being cancelled. Rescue Captain R.C. Evans, Jr. declared the fire under control at 9:20 p.m. and turned the situation over to the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control for investigation. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
