Single Vehicle Accident - 36000 Block of Club House Road

August 23, 2009

On Sunday August 23 at 2:40 a.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a report of wires down in the 36000 Block of Club House Road. Sussex County Emergency Operations Center upgraded the call at 2:48 a.m. to a motor vehicle accident. The firefighters and ambulance personnel arrived to a single vehicle accident. A Ford F250 pickup was traveling north on Club House Road when the operator ran off the right side of the road sheering off a utility pole. The operator of the vehicle had left the scene and was not present when emergency personnel arrived. As the emergency personnel and Delaware State Police were waiting for the Delmarva Power Company to arrive and replace the utility pole, the operator of the vehicle returned to the scene. He was later placed in one of the Delaware State Police cruisers and driven away. Chief Shawn Evans turned the accident scene over to the Delaware State Police for investigation. Club House Road was closed down from Atlantic Avenue to Old Mill Road until the utility pole was replaced. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
