3 Vehicle Accident - Atlantic and West Avenues, Ocean View

November 29, 2009

On Sunday November 29 at 8:10 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company, Sussex County Paramedics, and Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company ambulances were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Atlantic and West Avenues. Within a minute of the dispatch, emergency units were responding to the alarm. The ambulance crews and firefighters arrived to a three-vehicle accident involving a Toyota Prius, KIA Sportage, and Dodge pickup. Emergency personnel were able to remove the operators of the KIA Sportage and Dodge pickup from their vehicles without any mechanical extrication. The Millville firefighters needed to remove the roof of the Toyota Prius to facilitate the extrication of the driver. All operators received initial care at the scene by medical personnel and were then transported to Beebe Medical Center in Lewes for additional evaluation and treatment. Assistant Chief Richie Walls declared the situation under control at 8:35 p.m. and turned the scene over to the Ocean View Police for investigation. “DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY”
