On Sunday December 20 at 3:55 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the 38300 Block of Double Bridges Road. Firefighters and ambulance personnel arrived to a single vehicle accident. The operator of a Dodge pickup truck was traveling south on Double Bridges Road when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road snapping a utility pole in half. No occupants of the vehicle were present when the responders arrived. Assistant Chief Richie Walls requested Double Bridges Road be closed due to the snapped utility pole and icy road conditions. Delaware Electric Cooperative was notified to replace the utility pole.
