Brush Fire - 30200 Block of Cedar Neck Road

On Thursday, August 5 at 2:52 p.m., the Millville Volunteer Fire Company was dispatched to a brush fire in the 30200 Block of Cedar Neck Road across from Hocker’s Grocery & Deli. Millville Fire Chief Richie Walls was the first to arrive to a rapidly spreading brush fire due to the very hot and dry conditions Sussex County has experienced during the summer of 2010 and requested an assist from the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company. Firefighting crews quickly contained and extinguished the spreading fire, which burned approximately 4 acres of land. Chief Richie Walls declared the situation under control at 3:17 p.m.
