At the Millville Volunteer Fire Company's regularly scheduled meeting on October 7, two community groups made special presentations to the firefighters. The Lord Baltimore Lions Club made a $1000 donation from the proceeds of their Fried Chicken Dinner that was held at the Millville Volunteer Fire Company this past summer. Lions Club President Don Austin and Past President Jack Bauer presented the check to firefighter Jack Melson, who assisted in organizing help for the dinner. The Bay Forest Homeowners Association made the next presentation that would finalize the proceeds from their Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser that was held in the spring. In attendance from Bay Forest were: Gene Speicher, Tom O'Brien, Jack Beall & Ted Ruberti of NV Homes. Tom O'Brien explained to the membership that they were there to finalize the last part of their fundraiser, which were the proceeds generated on the raffle of the Skip-jack. The model of the Skip-jack was built by Jack Beall, and purchased by Ted Ruberti of NV Homes, who donated it for the raffle. The group was proud to present a check for $426, which they designated to go to the Lucas CPR machine fundraiser. Firefighter-EMT-B Michele Steffens, who is spearheading the Lucas fundraiser, received the check on behalf of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company. Needless to say, the members of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company gave both of these groups a very hearty ovation for their generosity!
