Motor Vehicle Accident Involving a Cyclist

On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 0814 hours, the Millville Volunteer Fire Company and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a Motor Vehicle accident involving a bicycle. Ambulances C-84 and A-84 arrived first and started patient care on the cyclist. When Engine 84-1 arrived on the scene, EMS Chief John Watson established command and assigned the crew to assist with patient care. The BLS crew requested an upgrade to ALS and Aviation. The crew of Engine 84-6 was assigned to the Landing Zone. EMS Chief Watson investigated the vehicle and bike and found the bicycle had been broken in half, and there was significant damage to the vehicle. The crew of Paramedics from Station 105 arrived on scene and took over the care of the cyclist. The patient was transported to the landing zone and flown to the Christiana Care facility by Delaware State Police Trooper 2 with non-life-threatening injuries. EMS Chief Watson declared the situation under control at 0900 hours. "DEDICATED VOLUNTEERS PROUDLY SERVING OUR COMMUNITY!"
