On 4 March 2017, Roxana Volunteer Fire Department and Chief Chris Uibel hosted a live-burn fire training exercise on the site of the former Twin Cedars Apartment Complex on Zion Church Road. Volunteer fire companies from both Delaware and Maryland attended.

The heat at times was so intense it was necessary to hose down the fire apparatus. The fire engines could not be moved since a water supply as needed for precautionary purposes.

At the conclusion, Chief Uibel stated the training exercise was a true success and benefited all involved.
