On Monday, 30 October 2017, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company gladly accepted an invitation to be part of the Trunks and Treats Halloween Event at the Georgetown DMV.  Master Corporal Juanita Huey-Smith was responsible for this very successful event.  

Children from throughout Sussex County participated.  Various public safety units from Delaware were represented.  It was quite obvious having law enforcement officers, paramedics and Millville VFC members distributing candy to the children provided that up close look of the emergency vehicles and interacting with these public safety officers when not in an emergency mode!  I believe this also brings out the kid in us adults.

The only fire companies at this event were Millville and Georgetown. Upon learning of this year’s success, I would assume next year’s contingent of fire companies will be increased.

Ocean View Police Department Officer Troy Bowden was not a disappointment to the children.  Besides handing out candy, his personality alone captured the hearts of many last night.
