November 28, 2017
On Tuesday, 28 November 2017, at 1218 hours, your Millville Volunteer Fire Company was alerted to respond to a multi-vehicular collision on Atlantic Avenue. It did not take the 2 ambulances and 2 pieces of fire apparatus much time to reach the scene since it occurred in front of the fire company property.
Millville VFC’s 2 ambulances were needed for the multiple injuries sustained by the occupants of the 3 vehicles. None were serious enough to warrant a medevac helicopter.
EMS Chief John Watson commanded this event. The fire crews quickly rendered the vehicles safe to ensure no fire or fluid leaks were to occur.
MVFC’s Fire-Police were charged to divert traffic. Route 26 can be quite busy this time of the day. Fire-Police Harry Warburton safely allow eastbound traffic to flow during this incident. Fire-Police Harold Lloyd and Earl Green diverted westbound traffic onto Old Mill Road allowing for just a brief interruption for the motorists.
The injured parties were transported to local medical facilities for additional treatment.
Delaware State Police are investigating this incident. Charges are pending the results of their investigation.
