RTF Training

Last night I had the pleasure and opportunity to participate in Active Shooter training convened at an undisclosed location in Sussex County. This particular training focused on law enforcement, EMS, and firefighters working in conjunction in a situation that has an ongoing shooter.

These teams of men & women entered the building in an attempt to extract the injured after initiating life-sustaining emergency care. Ocean View Police Department utilized there UAV by airlifting medical supplies to injured individuals that were still in the line of fire, but require medical supplies to tend to the injured when it becomes safe.

Many would say, “this is lower Delaware, it won’t happen here.” Did the faculty and parents say the same at Sandy Hook? After witnessing this training as a resident of Ocean View, God forbid this was to occur in one of our schools, but if so, I’m confident those first responders are prepared for the worst.

No photographs were obtained inside the building due to the tactics utilized by the first responders.
