Passing of a Legend

March 29, 2018

A legend is gone. Sadly, Maurice Carr, of the Anne Arundel Fire Department is now sitting in the cab of his antique Mack Fire Engine, but he can’t be spotted by us anymore!

Mr. Carr passed away today in his home county of Anne Arundel. Mr. Carr was a career firefighter with A.A. Co. for 35 years and a volunteer at Riva VFC for 70 years. One can only envision the knowledge that was robbed from us today.

The only bright side, Maurice Carr’s son, Dave Carr, is a career Lieutenant in Anne Arundel County and the Chief Engineer at your Millville Volunteer Fire Company. His father taught him and others so much over the years and Dave continues to share that knowledge with MVFC.

On behalf of Chief Richie Walls, Deputy Chief Paul Sterling, President Clarke Droney, EMS Chief John Watson, Administrative Executive Velicia Melson, and the entire membership, we give you our prayers sincere and condolences to Lt. Dave Carr and his family. You already know your friends are sharing in your sorrow sir!

Incidentally, Mr. Maurice’s Mack Pumper began its service in the City of Wilmington, Delaware.  It portrays his dad perfectly, a shiny, well-oiled machine with plenty of stories.

Pictured are the Carr’s, Maurice to the left and Dave to the right. We believe it was taken in 1991.
